New love for AI art

My journey into photography started decades ago, sneaking into my parents room and sneaking shots on my dad’s old film camera. Unlike today there was no getting away with such shenanigans because there was no way to delete photos from film. So when the roll would come to it’s inevitable end and my dad dropped it off to be developed, it was like Christmas morning when the photos came back and I got to see the few images I snuck on to the roll. My dad would smile had me my prints. When he picked up on my interest he encouraged me and bought me my own little camera to take all the photos my heart desired.

A few years into my photography /film making side hustle business, I quickly realized that 1. weddings and 2. photographing other people/ other people’s projects was not for me. I loved what I could create but in this world of instant gratification I hated how demanding people had become with my art. I once had a bride text me bright and early the day after her wedding, less that 10 hours after the event had wrap, to ask me for an update on her wedding photos and film. That was one of the defining moments I realize that wedding film and photo was not my calling. I hung up my camera officially in 2018.

As I moved into event design, branding, and fabrication the more dust started to collect on my camera gear. Only taking out my camera to photography my own events for marketing. I was still a dreamer and loved the concept of large production shoots and formulating concepts to create art pieces.

Flash forward to 2023 and the world of AI art is off to the races with no signs of letting up.

As I moved into event design, branding, and fabrication the more dust started to collect on my camera gear. Only taking out my camera to photography my own events for marketing.

I was still a dreamer and loved the concept of large production shoots and formulating concepts to create art pieces, not just your JcPenny’s family photo.

Enter my love for art direction and creative design, that I could now marry with AI Art and photography. While I am extremely new my exploration into AI art, using the MidJourney platform has reignited my love for photography. The ability to create art through detailed written prompts, down to film type, lens selection, camera selection, aspect ratio has been a breath of fresh air.

While no feeling will ever surpass exploration with camera at hand and taking photos of the world as I see it. AI art has brought back out that little girl, waiting for my dad to hand me my photos, so I can see the images that were developed.
