the deets
I was born and raised in Dallas, Texas, but I've done a stint in Sierra Leone, West Africa and Fort Benning, Georgia. I've spent the the last decade immersing myself into the creative arts and tech world. I hold a Bachelor of Science in Industrial / Organizational Psychology, a Master’s Degree in Business Administration from Texas A&M University - Commerce, and professional paralegal certification from Emory University.

As a top-selling account manager, I’ve worked for fortune 500 technology companies including IBM. I’ve managed multi-million dollar enterprise marketing and sales relationships bringing in millions of dollars in revenue. As a multifaceted creator, I've launched several brands, each infusing my passion for photo, film, art direction, business strategy, and the political history and culture of pan-Africa.
My entrepreneurial spirit, and love for tech and the arts started at a young age. As a young girl I would steal my dad’s film camera, as well as help him dissemble computers to learn the components, make enhancements, and put them back together again.
What started as a side hustle in 2008 taking model and graduation photos, turned into a full on 2nd job as a wedding and portrait photographer. Though I have been shooting for over a decade, I spent 6 years shooting wedding photography and videography. It didn’t take long for me to realize my passion was working with other creative entrepreneurs to help them build the brand of their dreams and the last year has been dedicated to revamping my brand to reflect the new direction of onikehbrown.com.

I launched Satin Pavement, an event branding and design studio, in 2017, followed by Glowing Up Melanin, a lifestyle brand focused on digital content and curated events that unapologetically celebrate the collective glow up of the African diaspora. and Muse and Mortar, a platform, tools, and a community for women creative entrepreneurs, in 2018. I am a proud boy mom of two boys, Aydin and Ian, who have recently started their own creative entrepreneurial journey and launched a YouTube channel, Aydin and Ian TV and wife of a retired veteran and my business partner, Brandon.
final thoughts
I am a proud self taught published photographer, published filmmaker, and published designer. I’ve methodically taught myself how to play with light, design, and create event and interior art with the best of them. I firmly believe in collaboration but I also believe in equipping yourself with the tools you need to be essential.
